The Alberta River Surfing Association (ARSA), an Alberta not-for-profit, that was founded in 2005. Below are current donation opportunities for Kananaskis waves. Kananskis wave projects are done as a full partnership between the ARSA and Alberta Whitewater Association (AWA) with support of the Lower Kananaskis River Users Association (LKRUA), Alberta Parks, and others.
Kananaskis wave donation
Donations go towards the Kananaskis adjustable wave and to repairing The Mountain following the 2026 1 in 50 year floods.
We are going into the river on Oct 1 2026 with a large excavator.
Oct 1 2026 goal: $10k for a large excavator to repair the Mountain. All new funds donated will be for the wave repair until the repair is complete.

Why is it $10k now instead of $6k?
The manual repairs revealed that complete repairs will require a large excavator and the cost for mobilization and work is $10k. This amount is heavily discounted by Ed Meyer of Able Demolition.
Why do we need to do the repairs?
To have a wave to surf in winter, and spring and summer 2027. The current repairs will not survive typical high water flows and will may not survive winter ice flows.
The repairs will make the wave better.
What happens if we do not raise the money?
We wait for the next build or until we raise the money for the excavator.
We will not have a wave spring 2027 and summer 2027.
